Give Kids a Focus on Parks

Focus on Parks begins at the Miami River and culminates at Everglades National Park, taking middle-school-aged children on field trips to document their discoveries at parks through a camera’s lens. The provided cameras are powerful tools for connecting kids with parks and building experiences that endure beyond that day’s activities. Examining new surroundings through a camera’s lens can build awareness of the history, culture, and environmental treasures our parks hold.

Since 2012, the program has introduced thousands of future environmental stewards and budding photographers to the natural world thanks to support from Miami-Dade Parks, Florida State Parks, and HistoryMiami. Putting a camera in a youngsters’ hands inspires future environmentalists, conservationalists, and park champions.
