Make a Difference. Volunteer.

PLACE stands for Parks Leadership and Community Engagement! Through the PLACE program, Miami‑Dade Parks and the Parks Foundation partner to offer hands-on opportunities—from coastal cleanups to habitat restoration—where community, school, and corporate volunteers can directly contribute to park stewardship.  The Parks Foundation’s essential support role includes providing food and refreshments, promoting volunteer events, and serving as a fiscal sponsor—enabling grant funding to fuel these conservation efforts.

Coastal Cleanup Series

In collaboration with Miami‑Dade County Parks, the Parks Foundation supports the year‑round Coastal Cleanup Series—a rotating monthly effort that invites volunteers to help protect our shoreline ecology across locations like Crandon Park, Matheson Hammock, Black Point Marina, Pelican Harbor, Rickenbacker Causeway, Venetian Causeway, Haulover, Homestead Bayfront, Greynolds, and other coastal parklands.

Adopt-A-Park Group Volunteers

This service option matches groups interested in donating resources, volunteer labor, in-kind materials, and/or monetary contributions with park enhancement needs. The schools, corporations, families, nonprofits or other types of organizations spend the day at the selected park clearing invasive plants and debris and restoring natural areas. Some groups “adopt” specific park sites and natural areas for ongoing volunteer activities, which are always paired with lessons on the critical link between ecological balance and environmental conservation.

Park Service Days

These “one-day” community-wide service events (for example, the nationally celebrated Martin Luther King Day of Service every January) take place throughout the year and are perfect for individuals who are looking to volunteer for a few hours at Miami-Dade Parks. Park Service Day events are hosted at various park sites. Event participants are provided with great family-friendly opportunities that can range from beautification and plantings to environmental stewardship and conservation, all while building community.
