Drowning is the leading cause of death among children 1 to 4 years old, according to data from Miami-Dade’s Department of Health. Drownings for that age group in Miami-Dade and Florida are the nation’s highest, but we are working hard to change that. With support from donors and corporate partners, the Parks Foundation provides learn-to-swim scholarships to children and families. This program helps keep Miami-Dade kids and adults safe in and around water at our parks and beyond.
