Loren Parra

Loren Parra is the Chief Resilience Officer of Miami-Dade County. Loren has an extensive background in government affairs, advocacy, and public policy, with a strong focus on environmental resilience and community development. Prior to her current role, she served as the County’s Chief Bay & Water Resources Officer, spearheading critical projects and policy related to the restoration of Florida’s Biscayne Bay. Through her leadership, the County increased state and federal lobbying efforts to accelerate solutions to protect Biscayne Bay, including $5 million from the US Army Corps of Engineers to restart the Biscayne Bay Southern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration project.

Loren previously held the role Senior Director of Communications for the Office of the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, and prior to that was Director of Public Affairs at The Miami Foundation, where she led the Foundation’s Civic Leadership Agenda, focused on addressing critical quality of life issues in Miami-Dade County through convening, policy, and grantmaking. Prior to joining The Miami Foundation, Loren served as Director of the George Barley Water Prize at The Everglades Foundation, a science-based nonprofit committed to the restoration of America’s Everglades.

Loren was Regional Director to former U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, managing local outreach efforts and acting as a liaison to federal resources for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and an MBA from the University of Florida, and currently serves on the Board of the UF Association of Hispanic Alumni. She resides in Coral Gables, Florida.
