Miami-Dade Parks celebrates 16th annual G.E.M. Summer Arts Showcase
A virtual showcase celebrating the creativity, talent, and leadership of girl ages six to 14
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department celebrated 16 years of leadership, creativity, and empowerment at the 16th Annual Girls Empowerment and Mentoring (G.E.M.) Summer Arts and Leadership Showcase. This year’s event was virtual and watched by many via livestream on https://www.facebook.com/miamidadeparks/
This year’s camp theme, “An Enchanted Forest of the Arts,” celebrated the creativity, talent, and leadership of girls ages six to 14 who participated in the six-week summer program. The award winning G.E.M. camp provides a unique learning environment focused on personal development, arts enrichment, and cultural education, with workshops in dance, theater, painting, crafts, journalism, and women’s studies.
The virtual showcase highlighted a culmination of the campers’ artistic work and leadership growth. The G.E.M. program, founded in 2010, is dedicated to inspiring girls to discover their creative voice, build confidence, and become visionary 21st-century leaders.
Held at The Women’s Park—the first park in the nation dedicated to women—the G.E.M. program aligns with the park’s legacy by fostering empowerment, resilience, and cultural pride in Miami-Dade’s youth.
